OUR STORY
Why Rootslane was born
Rootslane started with a simple feeling: missing the food we grew up with.
Living away from the Northeast, we constantly craved the comforts of home—the soothing aroma of Joha rice, the sharp bite of fresh Kaji Nemu, and the fierce heat of Bhut Jalakia.
We created Rootslane to bridge that distance. Wherever life takes you, a real taste of home should never be too far away.
We Go to the Source
To bring you authentic food, we go far beyond city markets, traveling directly to where these ingredients begin.
You’ll find us meeting farmers across Beltola and Sonapur, selecting dry fish in Morigaon’s traditional markets, or venturing into the bamboo forests of Jorhat. We go the extra mile so every item is as genuine as the soil it comes from.
From Local Hands to Your Table
For us, sourcing is about people. Supporting and uplifting local communities is at the very heart of what we do.
Our heirloom rice is grown by farmers in Namti, Sivasagar and milled in traditional village mills. Our handcrafted pickles are made by Women Self-Help Groups in Jorhat. When you cook with Rootslane, you aren't just bringing home authentic flavours—you're directly empowering the local hands that keep these traditions alive.
